  I purchased this for my HP dv6000 series notebook.

  Purpose: My previous battery was a 6 cell, and it would run out after 20 minutes! Abysmal. For some reason it decreased its battery life; before it used to get 1.5 hours. Not sure if this was an error on HP’s part. Note: If you run an HP diagnostics test on the battery, they tell you that some laptops’ batteries have been recalled/have major issues and HP will replace it free of charge and extend the warranty one year. See HP for details if your laptop qualifies.

  Installation: As mentioned in other reviews, I had to slam the battery in. At first it may seem like it will not fit, but you have to give it a good hit so it will lock into place.

  Performance: I get around 3.5 hours out of this puppy! I was really excited about this. I could watch a full movie on Netflix’s Watch Instantly, or pop in a DVD.

  Heat: Like others, I like that the large battery props up the laptop, thus allowing for better ventillation, and negating a need to buy a fan.

  Shape: The bulky battery makes it too easy for the CD-ROM bay to pop open. It seems as if it pushes out the CD and if you just tap it, *pop* it comes out. Minor issue. Also, since the battery does not run across the entire bottom of the laptop, it may make it a bit wobbly when it’s on a flat surface. Another minor gripe.

  Verdict: An awesome upgrade! I have reinvigorated my laptop with such a long battery life, and now can watch full movies and do video editing all over the house. Excellent purchase.

  My original battery with the computer lasted exactly one year and that was because I had my HP on high performance and other confounding other factors like I had the battery charging even when it was fully charged. Anyway on this setting, High performance, the battery lasted only 2 hours.

  Now that I got a new battery, I changed my battery setting to power saver and now it’s giving me 5-6 hours. I wish HP explicitly said that battery duration is low at different settings because all it did warn about is that the computer would not do some power bunch tasks. Well, it’s not as if browsing, word processing, and occasional dvd play needs high performance

  Two points of advice others have also echoed:
  1. Once your battery is fully charged remove the adapter charger.
  2. Choose the best battery setting for your needs. The choices are Power saver, Balance, and High performance on HP laptops.

  After about 2 1/2 years my original HP battery packed it in. It was a six cell battery and even at its best and with every power saving function turned on I was lucky to get more than an hour. The replacement 12 cell battery will run well over three hours even with everything running at full power. Quite an upgrade and the price through Amazon was exceptionally low when compared to buying through the HP site. The extra bump out for the additional cells makes for a little bit of awkward handling when on your lap, but actually places the keyboard at a nice angle when on a flat surface.

  Thus far the 12 cell HP battery I purchased has been great. The extra battery capacity is excellent-compared to the cheap battery that came with my laptop.

  While this battery works, it does not fit flushly into the battery slot of my HP notebook (something I should have figured out before purchasing). This causes the laptop to tilt towards you due to being elevated in the back. This is an annoyance for me.

  This is one of the best purchases I have EVER made. I pretty much wouldn’t be able to function without my laptop between school and work so having this battery has been a miracle. It lasts me about 5.5 hours and also doubles as a lift on the back of my computer. This is helpful when the little fans are going so the heat escapes easier.

  I had hoped to get at least 4 hours of life out of this battery but was amazed that it lasts just over 6 hours before the low battery warning comes on.
  I have recharged it several times and run it on my HP DV6000 laptop and I am still getting the same 6 hours. My laptop came with a 6 cell battery when I bought it 2 years ago and I never got more than 2 hours out of it so I am impressed with this replacement. For a generic, it looks well made and came in a padded box with a small but interesting instruction manual that gives some good tips on how to get the most life out of your battery.
  It does stick out from the bottom of the laptop as other reviewers have noted but it is not an issue for me at all.
  This battery gets my full approval!!!

  This battery has great life at a great price. I was careful to drain it completely before recharging it 4x per the instructions. However, you do have to be careful to get the battery into the laptop. It doesn’t just quickly and easily snap in and will pop out if you don’t carefully fit it in and be certain that the sliding button is completely pushed over. i would still buy another one.

  Well, I got the battery, and it was nice at first. It was about 75% charged and so I tried using my laptop with the battery without the adapter. It lasted a few hours, which was much better than the 6 cell battery I got with my HP dv6000 laptop that didn’t last even 2 hours.

  The problem is, when I tried to recharge the battery, it doesn’t work! It charges up for a little bit (to 20%) and then stops for no reason. I’m using Windows Vista, and the battery icon in the task tray says “plugged in, not charging.” I don’t know if Vista has anything to do with this, but my previous battery certainly did not have this kind of problem.

  I tried taking the battery out of my laptop to let it rest, and then put it back to charge it again, hoping my computer will finally get used to it and charge it all up to 100%, but it stopped at 20%, 40%, 50%, 80%, 90%.

  In the end, I got tired of it and it never got better. So I returned it (and wasted shipping money).

  I may have gotten a lemon or something, but I’ll probably go for HP batteries instead.

  I’m glad there was no problem with the refund, that’s why I did not give it a 1-star.

  This does not fit a DV2000 laptop. Good price unless you have to pay to ship the product to you, then pay to ship back to them. Don’t take the chance with this seller.

  I was a little doubtful about it, because it was slightly different from original battery, but this one work just perfectly and give me also a better angle to work on my laptop!
